Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games via various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard on designated networks covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , following recent talk about two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking in those games was the amount of penalties each conceded. Philadelphia did so at crucial times meaning they kind of defeated themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.
But it proved good to observe how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall before direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.
The Broncos have the top defender in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, and Denver prevailed in that contest.
They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing extra defenders instead they could plug two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
Early on in the campaign, we said on a program how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
New tight end Evan Engram has excelled significantly while recent running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how Denver represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in positive down and distances.
This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who entered into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he is so athletic.
His assets include his movement, being able to throw while moving, and using different arm angles to deliver throws as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle and past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great poise under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
When you constantly rush it consumes time and makes the opponent to be in play extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the field vertically side to side. It can be draining.
The quarterback has bitten back with the coach during games sometimes and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's fun for him to have a young quarterback that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can truly build something up the way he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and has surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix aids make him what he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.
I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team good enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this path.
They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they're the only team without a win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.
This hinges on which form Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
