Two Victims Identified in Brown University Attack as Law Enforcement Persist in Search for Killer.

Two students who died in the recent violent attack in Providence were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their assailant persisted following the release by local law enforcement of the sole person questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared condolences publicly, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were injured in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a police operation at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our community”.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering building on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the news agency.

Law enforcement that raided the inn recovered two handguns and two ammunition clips when the suspect was arrested, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was allowed to go home, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in serious yet stable state, and another was critically ill, authorities stated on Sunday.
