Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his team in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period like this with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
