Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
