Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of performing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
